Creating a Safe, Trusting Space Through Empathy
Nicole is an empathetic listener who is supportive of her clients through their healing journeys. She aims to empower them in their lives, and provide a safe space for growth. Nicole challenges and encourages them to make changes and achieve the goals that clients have for themselves. . She meets clients where they are in their process of healing, recognizing that each person’s path is different. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and we honor that every individual’s therapeutic experience is shaped by their personal history, goals, and context.
While born in Texas, Nicole moved to Saginaw, Michigan at an early age. She grew up in a multicultural family where cultures were meshed and celebrated. This profound merging of cultures is reflected in her approach to therapy as she keeps an open mind and a willingness to learn about clients’ diverse cultures.
Her Journey Here
Nicole received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saginaw State University in 2018. She then attended Wayne State University from 2019-2021 to earn a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Nicole became a licensed therapist in Michigan in 2022.
Community Care. Community Caring.
Prior to joining Together We Thrive Wellness, Nicole held various administrative roles at therapy practices in the local area, including referral manager, orientation leader, and manager of testing schedules and supplies. She has also worked as a psychotherapist at different practices in the local area to find the best fit. She’s thrilled to be a part of Together We Thrive because, in her words, “it feels like home.”
The Heart Behind the Work
Growing up I had always had an interest in helping others but when I had my first psychology class in high school I realized I wanted to become a therapist. I was excited to learn more about the subject and have continued that excitement since. The best part is building relationships and being able to witness so much growth and healing across many different lives. It can be such a fulfilling and rewarding role.
Fueling My Soul
I would have to say that my go-to comfort movie is 10 things I hate about you. It’s hard to choose an absolute favorite, but I usually love comedies, and rom-coms. However, I do love a good scary movie every once in a while.
In my free time, I love to surround myself with my partner, dogs, family, and friends. I love going out to try new restaurants, walking, yoga, or just staying home to relax and watching movies/tv shows.
