Cultivating Resilience and Lasting Change
McKenzie has based her therapeutic style in alignment with humanistic psychology, focusing on the individual, self-actualization, and self-efficacy. This approach focuses on the belief that humans are unique beings and should be treated as such. McKenzie also integrates a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approach in her work, offering a balanced and compassionate framework to help clients navigate life’s challenges.
She meets clients where they are at, tailoring her approach to your current emotional, mental, and life situation. This approach emphasizes empathy, non-judgment, and a deep respect for your personal journey. It allows McKenzie to build a trusting relationship and provide the support that best aligns with your pace and readiness.
Building Resilience and Equity in Every Session
McKenzie received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and criminology at Eastern Michigan University. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology at the Michigan school of Psychology.
Prior to joining Together We Thrive Wellness, McKenzie served the needs of our community at the Woodland Center Correctional Facility.
She is currently working towards certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma, and Substance Abuse.
The Heart Behind the Work
I love being a therapist because it allows me to connect deeply with others and be a part of their personal journey toward healing and growth. The ability to help someone make the changes desired to improve their quality of life and seeing the growth of these individuals is incredibly fulfilling. Each session presents an opportunity to guide clients through challenges, offer support, and empower them to unlock their potential.
On My Bookshelf
I thoroughly enjoy psychological thrillers. My current obsession is Freida McFadden books. They are fast paced and rife with psychological tension, but I love a book with unexpected twists. McFadden’s characters are often complex and flawed and it’s easy to get lost in the mystery.
I don’t have a favorite movie; however, I enjoy horror movies and comedies.
Outside the Office
When I get free time, I enjoy reading, puzzles, and coloring.
I’m also a big fan of shopping.
